Ex-Gratia Stardust Recognition Payment Scheme

In August 2024, the Government approved a two-phased approach to redress arrangements for the families of the 48 young people who were unlawfully killed in, and the survivors of, the Stardust fire. Phase One of the redress (an ex-gratia redress scheme for the families of the 48 victims of the fire) has now concluded.

On 10 February 2026, the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, Jim O’Callaghan, announced Phase Two, a scheme of ex-gratia recognition payments to survivors who were injured in the Stardust fire.

To Apply:

Once your application form has been accepted by the Stardust Recognition Payment Unit, a reference number will be assigned to your application. You will be asked to quote this number in all your dealings with the Stardust Recognition Payment Unit. You may also be required to provide further details in relation to your application to verify your identity.

Applications can be made in one of three ways:

  • Method 1 – Online by submitting your details as indicated below by clicking on “Start Online Application”; or

  • Method 2 – By downloading the application form as indicated below and submitting it by post to Stardust Recognition Payment Scheme, Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, 51 St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2, D02 HK52; or

  • Method 3 – You can also telephone the Stardust Recognition Payment Helpline at 01-859 2268 to request a copy of the application form to be sent to your home address.
